This song was written and recorded in 7 hours as part of Speak Into My Good Eye's 2nd Annual 24 Hour Songwriting Challenge. The challenge has bands create original songs under the strict deadline of one day, with the finished tracks appearing on a compilation. This year, the sales of this compilation benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
We're running out of time,
Can't look back, we can't rewind,
The summer's final light is shining through.
With our backs against the wall,
Don't look down, it's the longest fall,
But it's alright, I've got a hold of you.
The pages in a pile,
The calendar is in denial,
There's no telling where this compass leads,
The clock is ticking by,
The leaves, they change, so why can't I?
You're the only hourglass I need.
When the seasons end,
That's when we all pretend,
It's just natural,
It's just what life's all about,
But when your love kicks in,
I think of where I've been,
I think we're gonna make it out,
I know we're gonna make it out.
